Students joining our Music Performance and Production Level 2 (UAL) Extended Diploma were given an entertaining introduction to life at Activate Learning, as their peers took to the stage for a special induction week showcase.
The special gig was organised by the music faculty as a great way for people new to Activate Learning’s City of Oxford College to meet other students and see the levels they can aim for as they start their course.
Students were challenged to learn two songs for the night, which they had to rehearse in advance of the performance.
Nick Reiber-Hodgson, music lecturer at the college, explained: “As well as the songs and musical element, we also asked them to think about their stage movements and image – both of which are key elements to the success of any band.”
The gig was then reviewed by other students and this feedback will be fed into the lessons to form part of their evaluation.
Nick said: “It was a fantastic night and something that saw a large number of our students taking to the stage to perform in front of people for the first time.
“Because of the facilities we offer here at Activate Learning’s City of Oxford College, we are able to give our students these sort of experiences as they look to explore what a career within the music industry would look like.”
