It was bites, camera, action at Banbury and Bicester College on 24 May as students were filmed preparing and cooking food for a new NHS healthy eating app.
‘One You Easy Meals’ is a free app that shows how easy it is to eat healthier versions of popular meals. Nutritious versions of family favourites, including pronto pizza squares and fabulous fish pie, were filmed in close up at Activate Learning’s Banbury and Bicester College.
Peter Harvey, Lifestyles Faculty Manager at Banbury and Bicester College, said:
“We’re very happy to be participating in the NHS Healthy New Towns initiative. 10 towns from around the country, including Bicester, have been chosen for extra support to make residents’ lives healthier. We help by filming easy, healthy meals to encourage people who don’t cook to start cooking from fresh.”
“We’re hoping to film for the app on a regular basis as it also helps students to gain confidence and work on their attributes.”
Catering student, Ellis Etheridge, said:
“It’s good to raise awareness of healthy eating and show how easy it is to cook. You can go down to the kitchen and cook an easy meal in 10 minutes that is healthy and beneficial”.
Classmate, Jamie Higgs, added:
“If you eat more healthy food you’ll have a better lifestyle, be able to get off the sofa and go out and be sociable.”
