We offer part-time, full-time or online courses, so study can fit to your needs. There are also loans and bursaries available to help cover the cost of investing in your future.

Employability skills


Activate Learning can help you improve your chances of finding work.

We have partnered with the European Social Fund and the Big Lottery Fund to offer courses on:

  • improving your CV
  • practicing interviews
  • using computers
  • working towards your CSCS card (construction skills)

We also offer beginner’s courses for the Construction, Social Care, Security, Retail and Hospitality sectors.


English GCSEs and Functional Skills


If English is your first language, but you don’t have an English GCSE grade 4 (C), you can study GCSE and Functional Skills courses for free.

English for non-native speakers


If English is not your first language, we can help you to improve your English with our ESOL and EFL courses so you can study or find work. You will get the skills you need to help you settle into life and work in the UK and study all aspects of the English language.

Come for an interview at one of our colleges to find the level of study and type of programme that is most suitable for you.

  • ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages): Learn basic English skills to settle into life in the UK
  • EFL (English as a Foreign Language): Gain the English skills you need to prepare for study or work 
  • IELTS (International English Language Testing System): English proficiency assessments for higher education or work-related training
Maths, Functional Skills and ICT


Study for your maths GCSE or Functional Skills for free if you don’t have a Maths GCSE grade 4 (C).

Improve your basic computer skills with our Functional Skills ICT courses. They may be free depending on your circumstances. 


We offer additional programmes and courses for anyone who needs support with English, maths or study skills. We also provide help for people with learning difficulties or disabilities. If you need support with educational needs or a disability, our team is here to help you.
