Stepping up to the lockdown challenge!

Across Activate Learning’s colleges in Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Surrey we are working hard to support our students and local communities.

28 April 2020

We have been proud to see how successfully our Activate Learning community has continued learning, despite these difficult circumstances.

With our dedicated online learning platforms, since going into lockdown we have worked hard to ensure our learner’s needs are met and that they are still able to access their education remotely.

The results have been spectacular, with our amazing tutors and students adapting quickly to this new way of teaching and learning.

Here is an infographic that shows the past month’s learning activity in numbers:

Supporting our communities and the NHS

Besides the shift in our traditional college-based teaching and learning, there is so many other areas where we’ve continued to provide a valuable service to our students and the wider community.

Over the past month we’ve seen stories of staff and students going the extra mile to produce PPE equipment for our amazing NHS heroes or help out people that are more vulnerable at this time. Read more about these amazing stories on our news section

Helping current and future students to take the next step

Our Student Support team are also continuing to offer valuable advice and guidance to learners and staff working remotely, and our Careers Team are speaking to students every day about their futures and giving them impartial advice on what steps they can take next.

We do not know how long the present situation will last, but please be assured that at every Activate Learning college we will be there to support you thorough this period and help you take the next steps.

Continuing to work with our business partners to develop the next generation of talent

At Activate Learning we work with thousands of different businesses across our group to develop our curriculum and learners and ensure that our students are work ready and have the skills employers need.

The businesses we work with are important to us, and while things might be disrupted at the moment, we are working hard to make sure we will be ready to pick up where we left off and our students will be ready to resume industry placements and work experience.

During the lockdown we’ve seen lots of the businesses we work with impacted, and we want you to know that we remain here for you during these challenging times.

Starting the next academic year and enrolment

With social distancing measures anticipated to now last until the end of the year, we are working hard to make sure we are ready to support you via online channels with our virtual Open Events in June and with enrolment or late enquiries about joining us next year.

We are prepared for an online enrolment processes should current conditions apply and we will communicate with students joining us for the first time, or continuing on their journey with us, to let them know exactly what to do, and when.

So, for those who haven’t already applied to start your studies with us next year, what are you waiting for? And for those who have, we look forward to you joining us and we will be ready to start your learning journey.
